• This crown would have been worn as a member of the Ait Baamrane tribe, whose headpieces are distinctive in their use of a distinct horn shape decoration as opposed to the cone shape which is prominent in other Berber designs. Some say that the horns are a symbol of fertility, and that the silver would have protective properties against the evil eye.
